The Future is Free Friendly Fertiliser

Composting is a process familiar to farmers and growers and compost in the form of muck from the midden has been applied to agricultural land for centuries. Recently TEG Group plc has established the Natural Organic Fertiliser Company Ltd (NOFCO) to develop the compost market and the use of compost in agriculture. Since 1995 TEG has developed a unique in vessel composting system, which is now widely regarded as the leading technology for dealing with green and organic waste matter. The benefits of compost use in agriculture are well recognised and NOFCO is working to develop this exciting new application.

Compost offers the following benefits:

It acts as a fertiliser, hydrator, aerator and fungicide.

It provides: -

1) Both macro and micro nutrients for balanced, consistent growth

2). Improved soil structure

3). Better drainage

4). Enhanced water holding capacity

5). For the recycling of organic matter (thatch)

6). Assistance in the suppression of disease

7). For the slow release of nutrients

A typical analysis of the compost shows a Nitrogen value of 12-15 kg/tonne and around 350g/tonne of P and K, or 6-7 Units/tonne N and 0.35 units/tonne P and K.

These nutrients are released over a period of 3-5 years.

P Wilson & Company LLP have been instructed and retained by NOFCO as their agent to act in respect of their property requirements. NOFCO are looking throughout the north west of England for sites to meet the following requirements:

1) Land to lease for their own use on which to spread organic fertiliser and to grow industrial crops such as oilseed rape.

2) Yards and buildings for the storage of the organic compost product.

3) Land upon which to spread their free organic compost.

Having been awarded contracts from local authorities within Greater Manchester, NOFCO have established a new plant at Todmorden.

Initially therefore they are seeking to secure sites to meet the above requirements within a reasonable travelling distance of the Todmorden plant. However, it is envisaged that within the next 12-24 months further plants will come online throughout the north west of England and their requirements will therefore spread across the entire region.

If you are interested in discussing any of NOFCO’s requirements with us then please contact Andrew Coney.
