GENERAL INSURANCE REGULATION - ARE YOU COVERED?

Under the Financial Services & Markets Act of 2000 (FSMA) the provision of general insurance advice now falls under the control & remit of the Financial Services Authority.

The FSMA requires that all those providing general insurance advice should be regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

At P Wilson & Company we believe that the provision of impartial advice to landowners and occupiers is of primary importance. In order to continue to provide such impartial advice in respect of general insurance regulations, we now have obtained permission under Part 4 of the FMSA to act as an authorised company for the purposes of carrying out the regulated activity of the provision of advice in respect of general insurance and Andrew Coney in our Preston office is the duly authorised person under those regulations.

The alternative was for us to be a tied representative to a single insurance provider which we did not believe was in the best interests of our clients.
